Do you look forward to Monday morning? Or are you hoping and dreaming that it will always be Friday?

Some workers are simply TGIF workers, which stands for Thank God It’s Friday. TGIF workers can’t wait for their 8 hour days and the whole week to finish. If you’d classify yourself as a TGIF worker, then you’re probably missing something important in your career life – passion.

What does it take to be passionate in your work?

There’s always that old maxim “Do what you love the most.” It’s also a mindset. Passionate workers enjoy going to work every day. They don’t mind if it’s Monday or Friday. They treat every day as an important day in their career life. When you’re passionate in your work, you’ll enjoy it and even seek more.

There’s the idea in your mind that you can always do better. You aren’t satisfied with mediocre work. And it pays to be a passionate worker not just because you may be accelerated into higher position or given extra compensation, but because you can get things done more quickly and with a sense of satisfaction. Walking an extra mile, being organized, honest, trust-worthy, dependable, a team player, loyal, and resourceful are top priority characteristics of great passion.

In your work as an entrepreneur at home, you need extra passion. Why?
There won’t be a boss to dictate that you stay a little longer. Can you stay a little longer with a customer who asks too many questions? Or if things don’t go as planned? Or network when you don’t feel like it? Will you be patient enough and still maintain your passion? Are you committed to your work? Commitment can be defined as doing the thing you said you’d do long after the feeling in which you said it has gone. Passion and commitment go together.

People who have passion in their work perform at their best. They strive for excellence in everything. They may see perfection as unattainable, but excellence IS attainable. Their passion drives them to seek their best.

How do you discover your passion?
It’s not just about being energetic – you need passion from the inside out. And that’s about your WHY.

• What do you like the most?
• What are your interests?
• What type of job do you enjoy the most?
• What do you value?
• What keeps you up at night, or gets you out of bed in the morning?
• What goals do you want to accomplish?
• Why do you want it?
• Are you willing to go the extra mile to achieve it? Why?
• When will you start?

The answers to these questions will vary depending on your personality. Whatever they are, as you answer the questions, they’ll become your checklist for discovering your passion.

Each of us has different skills and passion.
Your home business career will probably require talking to people. If you find that your passion is about communication, then you can easily use that in building your business. If you enjoy working with different people, that will be a great skill to increase your passion as you interact with others.

But if you see yourself as shy, or just don’t like talking with people, you may need to stretch yourself to expand your comfort zone. It might seem scary at first, but you may discover you’ll become quite passionate with the results.

Learn as much as you can. Equip yourself with a broad knowledge of your work and your environment, enough to make you feel like you can accomplish your dreams. Take action! Exercise self-discipline (that’s an article of its own!).

The results of being passionate will go a long way to making it your reality.
